Antonio Caro

ArtNexus shares this 2011 interview with Colombian artist Antonio Caro, on the occasion of his current show “TODO, Caro en las nieves” and his participation in Sonora 128.

In this video, Caro tells about his earliest approaches to the arts, the themes or conceptual axes of his work, and his sustained recourse to wordplay and two-dimensionality. He closes talking about his skepticism towards the wordfuture and asserting that new works arrive “at any moment,” independent of him.

“TODO, Caro en Las Nieves,” curated by Francine Birbragher, is an anthology exhibition featuring a selection of Caro’s iconic works from a 45-year career, as well as three new works created specifically for this show. Caro is a pioneering figure in conceptual art in Colombia. The exhibition will remain open through September 24, 2016, and is open to the public Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the ArtNexus space in Los Estudios Las Nieves, Cr. 8 No. 20-17, 2nd floor (Bogotá).
